MYOFASCIAL TREATMENT OF HIP, THIGH, AND LOW BACK PAIN
WITH RICK HORTON

In this workshop you will develop strong assessment skills as well as therapeutic techniques that address the most commonly injured structures in the hip joint and thigh. You will learn how to differentiate muscle, tendon, bursa, joint, and ligament injuries. Palpation skills and hands-on treatment techniques are taught and finely tuned. You are given ample time and frequent opportunities in the workshop to acquire these new skills.

You will learn how to utilize the myofascial techniques developed by Rick Horton to work on specific injuries to the low back, hip, and thigh. Myofascial scarring and adhesions to underlying structures produce or contribute to many low back, hip, and leg pain syndromes. Understanding how to direct the treatment to the precise injury sites gives you crucial information to enhance your effectiveness in working with people in pain. This training emphasizes the hands-on learning of very precise myofascial techniques for pain and injury problems. A unique feature of this workshop is the free treatment clinic open to the public in the last phase of the workshop. These techniques were developed over the past several years while working with many people suffering from hip issues as well as collaborating with other practitioners.

In this course you will learn:

Anatomy: Participants view, draw, and palpate the relevant musculoskeletal structures.

Assessment: Participants practice detailed history taking, palpation of injured structures, and specific musculoskeletal assessment tests for the hip joint and thigh.

Theory: This portion presents, in depth, how to use the intake history, positive assessment test findings, and results of palpation to determine which structures are injured. The possible causes of injury are discussed as well as effective treatments.

Integration: After learning the theoretical basis and assessment procedures, the participants integrate this information through hands-on learning games and mock clinics practiced under supervision.

Technique: Detailed treatment techniques to eliminate unwanted adhesive scar tissue are taught, practiced, and reviewed several times during the training.

Clinic: On the third day of the training participants practice their skills by taking part in an injury assessment clinic free and open to the public.
