SEEING AND SENSING: A SELF-CARE JOURNEY TOWARDS GREATER
UNDERSTANDING WITH ROBIN SHAW

Bodyreading and movement are both ways in which we can use our own senses to become more effective hands-on practitioners. “Seeing is touch at a distance”, said Ida Rolf. And movement is like touching our own inner landscapes, giving us a more complete sense of our own anatomy and physiology.
In this course, we will practice visual postural assessment, looking at the skeletal system as well as the overlying soft tissue, learning to see imbalances, possible compensations, and overall patterns of tension. We will then explore personal movement; mostly yoga-based, sharpening sensitivity to our own postural patterns, looking for more balance and ease in our own bodies. These investigations will offer you ideas for treating your clients and most importantly give you skills for your own self-care.
This course will be taught in four segments, which can be taken individually or as a series. Our assessment and movement will be based in the following areas:
